Mythos of Azernos (Poetics 1)

Inspiration is pulled from: The sometimes absurd, outlandish, crazy; yet vastly entertaining Greek/Roman Mythologies of the ancient world.

Poetics 1 (Excerpt from Mythos of Azernos)

“Captain, we’ve lost the citadel!”

“We must pull back, we’ve soon to lose the entire city!”

As the crisscrossing Athenian soldiers spun around to face the new threat from behind them, they soon thereafter faced their death as a huge eruption exploded right in front of them.

An unseen bomb had fallen through the night sky from a gliding airship above. It had landed with a devastating blow to all the soldiers and innocent bystanders still amidst the City of Athens.

This sprawling ancient city was slowly beginning to become overrun by technological weapons and the humans from high-above; the Heaven-bound humans, as they had been labeled so long ago. As such, the Earth-bound humans were no match for their opposition.

Yet unbeknownst to either side of this deathly war; the gods and goddesses were also fighting throughout the battlefield amongst their mortal counterparts.

A few thousand yards behind the now two deceased Athenian soldiers; was Goddess of Opportunity and Prosperity – otherwise known as Change.

She had transformed herself into a mortal man. As strange as this transformation had been, Change had disguised herself well enough – for no mortal eyes could ever see her true form.

She had moved upon the battlefield in this disguise for quite some time, as she made her rounds in protecting any such soldier who was unfairly outnumbered; comforting any such souls who were to pass onto their eternal slumber; and guiding those who yet still had a fighting chance to survive in this lifetime. Unfortunately for her though, her ruse wouldn’t last for much longer.

For truth be told, she was not the only immortal upon this field of drylands and dead bodies.

For opposing her at this very moment, was both War and Death. War was God of Discarded Life. He was a god worth a million tales and feared by many mortals and immortals alike. Having seen every battle conceivable to man and woman; he had plagued the lives of so many innocent souls throughout the eons. But perhaps the most disheartening actor to come onto the scene of this newfound and unfolding situation, was that of Death. Death was the Goddess of Tainted Souls; for she was precise in her extraction of any mortal life. Though she feigned a false sense of sorrow, once she had her prey within her grasp, Death was as wicked and mischievous as any god or goddess. She never left any opportunity open for Change to intercept her actions; for Change and Death were sworn enemies.

“Well, well, well – it appears the lonely Goddess has come out to play now?” Death stared curiously at Change as she spoke these haunting words with relative ease and comfort.

Change, not one to buckle down from mere emotions, slowly begun to revert back into her true form. All the while, Change had grasped her Spartan’s sword tightly in her right hand and tightened the hold on her Aspis shield in her left hand. “You think your words have any meaning to me? You’re a fallen Goddess; Death. You live amongst the darker side of Utopira now. Nothing you say or do will ever matter to me anymore!”

Change was getting heated up, as she felt her immortal blood boil for just a mere second.

War remained silent as he readied his large battle ax. Yet he did begin to walk towards Change as he grunted shortly with unknown displeasure.

But as the God of Discarded Life came ever the closer to Change; something was different about him now. War now slowly bellowed out in full-rage as he began to rush towards Change ever-the-faster. Change, not one to be clumsy; was quick on her feet as she leaped out of War’s way just in time to counter-strike War’s bulky head-on attack.

Spinning around with ease, Change agilely leaped at War and struck him right in his left shoulder blade. Temporary anger seeped through Change’s face as she glared at War with a knowing stare. Change knew War was the reason Death had left the ranks of the holier gods and goddesses.

Change could hear a deep guttural laughter build up within War’s mighty chest, as he laughed at Change’s seemingly foolish endeavors to ward off their advances on her.

“You’ll never learn Change! You’ll never see the truth of our shared dilemma. We’re living through troubling days full of dangerous possibilities. Yet you have still not realized the truth of Judgment’s call!”

Change stuck her sword even deeper into War’s shoulder blade as War let out a deep roar of pain. Responding to War’s forward comment, Change glared daringly at the hefty man in disgust. “What gives you the right to change such a fate? Whatever Judgment rules as fair and morally right shall eventually come to pass!”

Before War could say anything in response, Death had glided silently behind Change and was about to stick in her a small sword drenched in godly poison.

But just before Death could make another move, an arrow came whirling from behind Death and Change; just as War had turned around to face the two goddesses.

The direct arrow was followed by an unknown voice. “Watch your back, Death was upon you.”

Change leaped airily out of the way as she had quickly caught sight of Death’s poisoned drenched sword. She just barely dodged her foe’s otherwise swift move; thanks to her unknown ally.

Turning her head to where the unknown voice had originated, she could see that it was Risk, God of Fortuity.

Raising his angled bow once more, Risk aimed it right for War’s head now.

Letting his arrow fly valiantly through the winds, Risk closed one eye as he watched his arrow jettison through the air. Nothing in all of godly life made Risk more at peace with himself than his bow and arrows. He was a hunter by nature, ever the willing and hungry to capture his prey; no matter what side they were on.

As this was going on, Death smiled shortly behind her veiled mask. The Goddess of Tainted Souls knew when it was time for her to take her leave from a scene. And as such;  a dark swirling portal appeared beneath her feet at this very moment.

Falling deep within the confinements of The Unknown, Death had just as readily left the battlefield as she had entered it.

The arrow, which had been let loose from Risk’s bow, had hit War directly between the eyes.

Change thanked Risk sparingly as she spun around to see War bellowing out his infamous cry of battle.

Enraged by the unexpected turn of events; War caused a rippling affect of unyielding aggression and deathly recklessness to befall any mortal who’s ears could hear his calling.

Change, not leaving anything to chance, took Risk’s hand and began to run at inhuman speed as both goddess and god made their way far away from this battlefield.

They were moving at the speed of light almost. Change could easily ride the rippling currents of winds better than any god or goddess in existence. She had found comfort in knowing this truth. For if there was anything Change had learned, it was that she could never trust War to be sympathetic – not even to his fellow gods and goddesses.

****

As this had been going on; on the opposite end of the battlefield – where the City of Athens was now in shambles and torn into millions of pieces, there were two other gods facing off with each other.

They were rivals since the day they had been born. Bad immortal blood had run deeply between their families, and even through the ages; these two gods were a testament of that deadly rivalry that had fostered between their separate families.

“You think Love has any such feelings for you? You think she even cares that you’re still among our ranks? Ha! You’re more of a fool than I had originally thought.”

“Our relationship is of no concern to you Triumph. Though she may very well be your sister, she is the light of my life!”

Opposing one another, Triumph, God of Victory; and Passion, God of Livelihood, were at adds with one another.

“Failure as always; even though you try so valiantly – you’ll never be god-enough to protect her. I won’t allow it my young, foolish lovebird.”

Triumph was instigating Passion, trying to coax some sort of slip-up.

For Triumph, this was merely his way of preparing for his eventual victory. To make his opponent second-guess himself and to make him mentally weaker than humanly imaginable.

But Passion was not one to be taken down so swiftly. He was a god not taken to provocation so easily. He had learned his lesson long, long ago during the War of the Immortals. The very same catalyst that had caused the wide chasm of hatred between Passion’s family and Triumph’s own to grow wider and wider with every passing century.

As Passion remained silent, he readied his hidden daggers. He glared at Triumph with a cold, and somewhat blank, stare.

All the while, Triumph brought forth his spear. A mighty weapon if any. Even Passion knew that his opponent was well-beyond his level of battle expertise.

But Passion had one thing Triumph would never understand fully. God of Livelihood knew all the secrets of life. He knew every weakness, and every strength, to his opponent. Even if his opponent happened to be his lover’s older brother.

Moving in an almost-hypnotic dance of battle, both Passion and Triumph were now slowly maneuvering around each other with hidden honor.

But just as readily as the two Gods were matched to fight, the sound of rain began to echo throughout the ruined city.

From high-above, came the low, yet booming, voice of Judgment.

“Lay down your weapons. Neither of you belong here amidst the battlefield on this day.”

Triumph looked the most displeased as he maintained his steely gaze at Passion while simultaneously speaking firmly to Judgment. “Judgment – this isn’t your battle to interrupt!”

Without even another moment’s notice, the sound of a loud thudding noise was apparent as a huge boulder had fallen seemingly out of nowhere.

It nearly took out Triumph’s head. Passion had flew out of the way quick-enough to avoid an otherwise catastrophic; yet temporary, godly-end.

“Turn back now, else I won’t miss next time.”

Triumph; grunting with massive disapproval, took his leave as he turned-tail and rushed out of the scene. Passion, looking onward at his escaping opponent, sighed in silent relief as he grunted in small displeasure himself. Passion was not always so foolish as to believe every situation looked promising. He could be just as level-headed as any of the other gods and goddesses if he tried hard enough. And today was one such day in which he knew better.

*****

Change and Risk had made their way far away from the City of Athens. Change had taken them to the east-end of The Alps. Yet she was not out of breathe, for the immortals had more energy than any mere mortal could ever wish to harness in his lifetime.

Glancing over her shoulder, Change sighed with small relief as Risk questioned Change’s actions.

“You were suppose to be at The Banquet tonight? Yet you chose to disobey Judgment’s order. What of his wife, Intuition? Did you not think of helping her likewise? Surely she would have welcomed your presence. You know better than anyone else that she’s temporarily sick; as gods and goddesses are want to do from time to time.”

Change scoffed lightly as she looked out to the distance now. “You can’t assume every time Intuition falls ill, that I’ll be at her beck-and-call. Anyways, Honesty and Hope are by her bedside.”

Risk looked somewhat suspiciously at Change as he questioned her motives. “Surely it was at your behest?”

Change closed her eyes and smiled slightly. “I’m the lone goddess for a reason. Wherever I’m needed here in the mortal world; I’ve no ties to bring me down. We’ve all our own parts to play, and you have yours certainly.”

Now Risk knew Change was speaking in double-meanings. There was something alluring about her, but also, something strange. Either way, Risk knew that Change never wasted her precious energy. She always had a rhyme for her reason.

Shrugging lightly now as he placed his arms over his head, Risk stared at Change as he begun to try and decipher what she was after.

“So, what was it that brought you down here anyways? You’ve yet to answer me directly.”

Change was quiet for a moment before responding in short. “Personal business, that’s as far as you’ll get with questioning me on this day.”

And with that, Change had left Risk’s presence in the blink of an eye.

Risk was now alone with a sinking feeling of uncertainty.

But even he knew what to do next. He also had personal business to attend to. A trio of special guests were waiting for him back in a different place. Fortunately, the place he needed to go to was not too far off from where he was standing at this very moment.

He would be off to the City of Rome; and not a moment too soon either. For two other gods and a single goddess were awaiting his most pressing message. He certainly couldn’t waste anymore idle time; least of all on this night of nights…

Music Monday! – Birth of a Mythos

Hey everyone; it’s time for another Music Monday! post. This is R.S. Noel here, and I felt inspired by recent philosophical thoughts of mine pertaining to the possible future of our world.

Though this year was full of important and memorable events for all, there seems to be something looming just over the metaphorical hilltop which makes this one a seemingly insignificant year.

This track is what inspired me tonight, on the eve of this weeks Music Monday!

As per usual, I recommend listening to this track with headphones on, so you don’t disturb anyone around you, or in the same room as you. I suppose you could categorize this music as “epic orchestral”: (Click me to listen to soundtrack!)

Warning, what you are about to read may be graphic in intensity. Moreover, this is just a summarized piece of a book I’m writing entitled “Mythos of Azernos”. Please read at your own discretion.

Inspiration behind this work-in-progress: Greek/Roman Mythology, current global affairs, and an imagination as expansive as the universe itself.

I will begin without further delay:

A mythos as old as time itself, this is yet one which should never be told. Only during times of vast uncertainty and darkness does this tale make its presence known to our world.

This is a story of two mortal lovers separated by technological warfare; platoons of soldiers destined for death; a secret trio of two gods and a goddess moving in the guise of silence and darkness to attack at the perfect moment; and of the robotic dictator-like board of inhuman rulers who have the final say in the human lives they watch over.

Yet, this mythos is not just full of sorrow nor of gods and goddesses alone. It is not just a tale of the connection between the physical and spiritual world. Nor of hatred or of war, nor of the everimpeding doom the humans face in their very existence. And it is not even a tale of desperation. No, this is one of much more.

During times of war, of famine and famish, and of widespread death – our physical world is torn between what is right and what is conquered. It faces the dilemma of choosing the value of human life over that of machination and automation.

And so….it begins.

The wicked machine lifelessly and unknowingly plots alongside the sinister human tacticians whom rule over the lives of all who remain complacent with such twisted rules. Deception, Goddess of Intelligent Lies, directs these misguided intellects towards false destinies and deathly fates. She favors inquisitiveness and cleverness above all else, not saving even an ounce of sympathy for the fool-hearty or naive lover of life.

Opposing the Goddess of Intelligent Lies; is Honesty, Goddess of Naive Truth and Strength. She fights with a brave heart and protects any such mortal she deems worthy of a passionate battle. Honesty also holds the hands of all those who were lied to or left for Death‘s door. She, unlike Deception or Death, is one to give way towards forgiveness and happier days.

And as the war between the gods and goddesses in the spiritual world rages on; the physical world is yet one full of mortal misery and misfortune.

The wealthiest human beings, those belonging in the 1%, live in floating castle-like landscapes. Man-made structures which took centuries to build. Long ago, all humans were born onto the land they would eventual die on. But in this modern world, those who are fortunate enough can live their entire lives completely oblivious to the pains and ills of those below who’s only wish is to live comfortably enough to enjoy life’s most basic blessings.

Of course, these so-called “wealthy” individuals are nothing more than forced slaves. Forced to exist against their wishes; for they were not born from other humans. They were born from technologies which replaced the role of man and woman.

With technology, humans can create human life without the presence of man or woman. They can create a false community, full of lonely offsprings with no parents to love them. Society’s rules are upside-down; favoring the old and forgetting the young. Putting importance on those who have ailing health and discarding those who are healthy and able-bodied. Favoring those who are silent and studious; and casting aside those who show even an inkling of creativity or sympathy. Indeed, this reality was brought upon due to the lack of love and affection the older humans received when they were young themselves.

Yet how could they grow up normally? They too had no parents themselves; they were also born from machines and automations which replaced their otherwise natural parent’s roles.

Favoring the fearful, and hindering the bravest of brave souls; this reality has fractured the very equilibrium of human progression. Because truth be told; in this sickened reality; healthier human beings are seen as a liability. A threat to the very stability and structure of this intentionally weakened society. A reality which was calculatingly fostered about by the policymakers of this new world.

Yet far down-below, away from the strange oddities of the modern world, is a world plagued with other horrors. Natural nightmares.

Humans in the world-below are savages and unintelligent to the ways of science or mathematics. They are uncivilized and cruel. Taking whatever they so wish to, and having no regard for their rival cities, villages, and tribes. But unlike their counterparts living high-above in the material-like castles; these humans experience life as it should be.

These humans, down below in the midst of natural water and landscapes, may very well have a truer sense of community and a truer sense of love and affection. With the good, also comes along the bad and the ugly.

Such hostility and brute force has overshadowed any sense of protection or safety. Either way, they live lives full of truth and risk.

But like everything else in life, change is inevitable.

Change whispers amongst those belonging to the natural world below.

Change, the Goddess of Opportunity and Prosperity, embraces the deceased old man who has starved to death. She comforts and warms the soul of the woman who is bleeding out as she gives birth to her only hope worth living for. Change wraps her delicate and understanding arms around the lost children of an ancient city down below; as they rummage through the piles of old technologies and resources worth scavenging for. She delights the young man and young woman who have each other in this otherwise cold and desolate world.

Change works alone.

Yet as day turns to night, Change sees her opposition clearly now.

As the sounds of discarded blasts and tainted gun-fire ring out, War and Death have begun their onslaught on the humans down below. War, God of Discarded Life, and Death, Goddess of Tainted Souls, begin their ultimate campaign for ruination.

Yet Change is amongst those soldiers who are missing an arm, a leg, a soul, or a heart. She reminds them during their passage to eternal slumber, that their life was yet one of great sacrifice. She reassures them that the future generations to come will prosper once again after this long and dreary drought of human progress.

Change hurriedly protects every man and woman who’s life hangs in the very balance of Judgement now. For Change knows all-too well that Judgment holds no bias.

For unlike Change, War, Death, or any of the other gods and goddesses – Judgement speaks the final word on every matter. Judgment is God of Ultimate Authority and Rule. He is the very leader of the gods and goddesses, watching closely on every action imaginable and exacting his powers upon those he deems evil beyond repair; or even those who are good beyond reason.

As the mortals and machines of the physical world fight for survival, and as this play of truth and lies wages on; the true beginning of this mythos yet unfolds on the most auspicious of days.

For a single mortal man and a single mortal woman, have come together in union to exchange words which have long since been forgotten about in this world and reality of devastation and death.

For Passion, God of Livelihood, and Love, Goddess of Faithfulness, have granted a rare gift upon their otherwise mortal baby. Indeed, Passion and Love brought together these two brave and determined mortal souls to foster forward one such son who is at the center of this sprawling and epic tale of cheer and woe. A hero amongst the greatest of heroes. He will be one who’s name shan’t be forgotten even through the passage of time itself. For his mythos; his very legacy; spans multiple tomes, crosses paths with many different lores, and intersects with countless epics.

A son born of true love, born of real passion. His heart and soul are brighter than any such star, than any raging flame or fire, and stronger than any man or machine. His life, infused with the sacred powers of a half-god, is one of an underdog story.

His name…..

Azernos.

HALLOWEEN: A Time of Infinite and Unyielding Creativity!

Well, it’s my favorite time of the year again! Being inspired at a young age from the inquisitive and creative nature of Halloween, I’ve always had a deep-rooted adoration for everything and anything spooky, magical, and haunting on this most special of days.

From the days of being an advent reader (and watcher) of the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, to going outside and causing mayhem in the streets of my hometown with my “angel”-like friends, to binge-watching anything even remotely terrifying [Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Original), Halloween (Series), A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Shinning, etc.]; Halloween for me has correlated with the one time out of the year where I could enjoy the company of those closest to me.

In recent years, it has represented something more special however. Halloween, to me, represents a time of reflection on the history of the world.

For some reason or another, I’ve been taking Halloween as a time to remember all of the different key moments in our world’s history. To the magnificent Roman Empire that Augustus Caesar created, to the days of ancient China and her rule of ruthlessness, to the history behind Stonehenge; Halloween has recently held a very special place in my heart for reasons unlike what it is celebrated for. It has become the one time out of the year where I can genuinely reflect upon things otherwise forgotten.

As the days meld into years, and as I grow older and realize my mortality is upon me; I’ve begun to feel a deeper connection to even the most seemingly insignificant of aspects to life. I feel one with the world during this holiday. I’m reminded of all the boundless sources of creativity awaiting to be tapped into; waiting to be explored through.

I feel like a kid again; running around and jumping into the fallen autumn leaves. I feel the cold-winds of preemptive Winter calling my name; reminding me of life’s cycle of life and death.

It makes me feel adventurous; it makes me feel like I can take on the whole world all at once and live through such an experience.

It makes me aggressive again. It rekindles an almost dim fire within me. It reminds me of my long-forgotten ambitions. Though I am 24 years old, I feel like a spritely 99 year old man. I feel as though I have conquered ancient ruins, ethereal jungles, and expansive deserts.

It fills me with dreamy images of teleporting back in time to an existence on Earth when temples were pristine and civilization was just at the root of fruition. I close my eyes and wonder what fate has in store for the world.

I can feel the strange winds now; an unfamiliar ocean breeze filled with air so crisp not even I can recognize it.

As I reopen my eyes, I can see dirt-filled faces marred with unsettling fear. I remember that life for our collective ancestors was one likely ruled by lies, deceit, and deception.

For all the natural beauty around, though, I quickly lose myself in Earth’s bounty.

I escape.

I run away from civilization, make a trail of my own. I feel the whiplash of the winds now as it basks me with new purpose.

I rise.

I find my footing in stranger lands, filled with stranger people still.

I meet new allies, new companions as well who accompany me on my travels to foolishly change the world. But I’m young at heart; nothing can stop me. Not even an emperor or dictator. Nothing stands in the way of my desire for freedom of choice for all human beings on Earth. Nothing sways my unyielding resolve. I fight for the people, sacrificing myself at any cost possible.

You see, I feel like myself again on Halloween. For one reason or another, I feel connected to everyone around me during this time of the year. There’s something deeper and darker to life, yet the light beneath such a void is yet one undiscovered.

Though I may never live to see happier days for our civilization, I will always continue to use my creative force for change. No matter how small, or how large, it may be; I will always honor the creativity that comes along with Halloween.

With that said; may you and yours truly have a fun-filled Halloween! I hope you enjoy your time with your family, friends, and close acquaintances. Remember that life only holds meaning when shared with those who love you, and who you love back.

And whenever you’re in doubt, just look up to the sky and wonder. Let your imagination run wild every once in a while. Who knows, maybe you’ll go on the adventure of a lifetime…

Forever in Your Debt,

Music Monday! – As I Write

Welcome to my new series Music Monday! This series will be the very harbinger of what I listen to whenever I write stories of fiction. It’s a recording and a collection of the best inspiring music which has had a variety of effects on me. Depending on what I’m writing, I usually listen to one of three types of genres. The first, is that of daring adventure. The second, is one of immense tragedy or sorrow. And the third, is usually that of intensely dark or twisted music.

Here’s a sample of what I’m listening to at the moment as I write. I would also advise you wear headphones if you do decide to check out the music. You can hear every single piece of note and instrument being played out much better this way: (Click me to listen to music via youtube).

The thundering sounds of suspense, the endless waves of emotions that comes with the monumental encounters of life; these are the moments I live for. At times, when I’m writing a scene that is full of blinding twists and endless turns, I find myself gladly overcome by a huge amount of adrenaline which washes over me and nearly drowns me in the expanse of life’s many outcomes. It’s an onslaught of events, back-to-back-to-back; and I love every minute of it.

A lead-up to an even larger event; which leads to a different path and an outcome unseen; until the crescendo is met near the end of each main plot-line. These are the moments I live for as a writer.

It’s so strong, so intense, that my fingers are typing just in-tempo with the blinding speed of succession of the heart-pounding scene unfolding in front of my mind’s eye. Though I can barely keep up with the pace of my rapidly-changing brain patterns as the story comes to me through some sixth sense, or God-knows what else; I am rewarded when I finish each scene. Though I may have exhausted all sources of energyreserve within my soul; once I finish a scene, I see the hard-work that actually goes into it. Like any good story, there is a definitive “beginning”, “middle”, and “end”.

There are countless and numerous tracks that I listen to; and with this series, I’m hoping that I can record them all. I know it might be near-impossible, since there are so many tracks that I listen to while I write.

But with every track played, I get that much closer to finding closure in each story I write.

Writing is such a sacred art. It consist of concentration on a level that many of us are not comfortable with. It can cause a sort of distancing mechanism in writers, and many times, it can even cause extreme cases of isolation. Yet that’s what makes writing so intriguing. Like many other forms of expression; writing can produce works of living art. And if you’re lucky enough to know how to work through the social environment of the movie industry, you may even see your own book turned into a movie.

In the end though, one must remember to balance out their lives. Because, as the saying goes: “everything in moderation”. Or else you can very well find yourself somewhat deranged and mentally exhausted.

During my breaks between writing, I keep each story deep within the confinements of my mind; since nowadays, I’m focused more on school-work then I am with my true interest, which rests in writing.

In some way, that’s why I started this website/blog. I wanted a place where I could jot down my thoughts on different topics. Probably the best surprise, was that it also helped me connect with countless people with interesting life-stories and backgrounds full of inquisitive knowledge. It’s led me to this amazing network full of other passionate writers, photographers, travelers, and hobbyists. It’s led me down a path which I am all-too glad to walk upon.

There are certainly many things left unsaid in this post, but for today, I believe it’s the right time to end this piece.

God bless all of you, and I hope you have a fine rest of your day, (or night)!

Forever in Your Debt,

R.S. Noel

What is Love? (Part 1)

Love is such an immensely large part of who we are as human beings. It’s what defines us as a species, and moreover, it’s what defines the generations to come into existence. We are passionate creatures, we do “reckless” things out of our emotions of love. The greatest dramas, tragedies, and plays of our time have all cumulated to stories with the whirlwind effects and consequences of true love at it’s highest form.

It’s something that we will never get rid of, and I’m completely glad this is the case. Because life without love is like a fish without water. In other words; there’s no point to living life without some form of love.

The whole premise of our existence is to feel; just as much as we utilize our minds for logic. Truth be told though, it’s a balancing act. It’s about the Yin and Yang, about the equilibrium of our existential presence here in this experience we call life.

Hello everyone, it’s me R.S. Noel coming to you with another post. I want to say thank you again for all of the new and returning followers; this has become such a great and interactive side-hobby for me, that I can see myself blogging for years to come. I have plenty of time (God willing I don’t get hit by a truck or anything), and I intend to use some of that time in life reading, and more importantly, writing; here on my website.

Since the beginning of time for human beings, love has always been at the root of our birth. Through the harshest winters imaginable, to the deadliest heatwaves known to mankind; love has always prospered a civilization, it has always made a people grow into a culture worth remembering and worth knowing. For even through all of the convoluted lies, deceptions, and backstabbing; love will always prevail in the end. And that’s what makes life such a thrill, such a rush of fresh air.

It’s exhilarating, the experience of knowing someone you love will always be by your side; whether in life or in memory; love still exists in both realms. A companion to always comfort you when you’re in your darkest hour of life; such a person in your personal life surely holds great importance to you. That emotion you feel for your loved one, that feeling you experience every time you see them; that’s what life is all about. It’s about cherishing the small time we all have here on Earth, and making the best of whatever twisted or unfair situation we find ourselves in. Because at the end of the day, none of the “fluff” of materialism has ever mattered. You won’t be taking anything of material wealth with you to the afterlife. The only things that remain, then, are those of our most cherished memories. Of our fondest times here on Earth.

Love is so incredibly powerful.

It defies the very laws of physics. A force that not even science can ever prove, or disprove. Love is boundless, free-spirited, and has a wild mind of its own. It takes a hold of you in ways you never knew existed. It transcends any drug, any source of pleasure, and any type of attention any of us could ever receive. When you find true love, it’s as though the whole world stops existing for a single moment in time. It’s as though the winds stop, the oceans become calm, and all of the problems and mayhem that plagues your societal life; come to a complete and utter halt.

It’s that emotion you feel after getting over the nastiest memories, the cruelest of people, or the hardest of days. It’s a feeling of truth, the kind that never leaves you. It’s like breathing out a sigh of relief that releases all of your worries, doubts, and fears.

Such an emotion is forbidden in our world for a reason. It holds the very life-force to change the course of our history.

In my own personal life, I secretly utilize this force of change for the betterment of not just my future; but hopefully the future of other people’s life as well. I understand to some degree, that the feeling of love is forever fleeting, and will just as soon arrive at my front door just as quickly as it’s willing to leave.

So what is the purpose of this post today? Well put simply, it’s to remind you of what’s important; even when shit hits the fan. It’s to help keep you grounded when you start to feel powerless or useless. It’s to motivate you to keep on walking forward, even when you see the road ahead of you appears to be nearly impossible to traverse.

Because at the end of the day, all that remains, is love.

Forever in Your Debt,

R.S. Noel

A Sense of Entitlement Leads to Nowhere

A sense of entitlement can only lead you to your demise, your downfall, and your eventual undoing.

Hello everyone, it’s me R.S. Noel coming to you with another post. I want to say thank you once more for all of the new and returning followers; I’ve enjoyed reading all of your comments and also reading some more of your articles. It’s always refreshing to get new points of view and to understand where different people are coming from.

You must understand that a sense of entitlement, over time, can cause you extreme pain and a lackluster sense of what life is truly about. You become shrewd, coldhearted, and close-minded. Your taste for the good-side of life becomes so polluted, that you begin to become weary of anyone and everyone who shows even a small inkling of compassion towards you.

I know this to be true, because for the longest time, I led my life this way.

I was far-removed (mentally-speaking) from my fellow human beings around me. I felt as though I had dissociated myself from every single living thing in existence. My mind was the sole ruler of my existence, and I had lost all capacity for empathy and forgiveness.

To some degree, I may very well still be this way. But I’ve quickly come to realize over the last couple of years, that everyone in our world (to some varying degree) is this way. We all live in denial to some level; in order to be functional-acting adults. Without a bit of denial of our current environment; we could very well lose our minds from the madness that surrounds us. Everyone chooses their choice of drug, mine happens to be writing.

You see, being entitled may allow you to survive in the hierarchy of our society. But it doesn’t; however, equate to your happiness. Entitlement is not a necessity of life, you can live without it and still succeed. You can still make great strides in the business world. Of course, you may not be as intimidating without your false sense of entitlement, but you will be immensely respected by everyone who knows you. You’ll be remembered fondly upon by your closest loved ones and dearest friends. You will leave a legacy of love that goes beyond any capacity of valuable knowledge.

Because truth be told, love conquers all. In some shape or form, love always prevails even in the darkest of nights.

You likely know this already; but there are two ways to earn respect. The first is out of fear, and the second is out of love.

If you show those around you some semblance of human compassion, even if it may be small, then you will see some very interesting results. Those closest to you will show you an immensely huge amount of respect. You will be the revered leader they’ve been longing for, the captain of the ship whom is just as likable as he/she is stern. Because like most things in life, you need to find the right balance between both sides of the spectrum. The spectrum I’m talking about, is of course the spectrum of emotions and logic. The more emotional you are, the more whimsical or unreliable you will be to your team. But in that same token, the more logical you become, the less respected and less appreciated you’ll be.

The contradictions of life are endless, but once you begin to open your mind and your eyes to the wider world around you, you’ll begin to understand how it works. You’ll begin to appreciate all of the people in your life, and you’ll also begin to let go of anyone who doesn’t truly care for you.

Because that is likely the root of your sense of entitlement. You’ve been wronged for too long by someone you love. You’ve had a father who was emotionally unavailable and distant to you. You’ve had a mother who had a negative response for every accomplishment you achieved. You’ve had a boss who belittles you and laughs about it right in your face. You’ve had a sibling who ignores any attempt you make at making any real relationship with them. Or, you might of had a husband or wife who abused you physically or emotionally; beyond humanly perceived pain.

Either way, you’ve led a hard life – one full of unforgiving obstacles with nobody to help you get out of your rut.

But remember this; even in your darkest of hours; only you harness the power to respond to your situation. And in turn; how you respond will likely change the very course of what happens to you in the future; forevermore…

Philosophical Journey (Part 3)

Hey everyone, it’s R.S. Noel here with another enlightening and informative post.

There’s something both magical and horrifying about the way we treat each other.

At times, we can be extraordinarily cordial and reliable towards our fellow men, women, and children. But then, there are times when we turn a blind eye to the vast injustices that different people face in our society at all varying levels of our communities. Once you see the varied facets of life in our society, it’s kind of disheartening to know that there are people who are suffering through immense harassment or degrading treatment in factories, offices, and other workplaces.

I always wondered why hierarchy has been such an important part of our human existance. Of course, I know in the natural world, the animal’s base instincts rule the “jungle”; the systems of hierarchies are all animals know; even if they are obviously not conscious of the kinds of community systems they have set up. But when it comes to humans, we have the capacity for intellectual empathy to a level unseen in any other species. We have the in-depth ability and intellectual power to change how we treat each other.

This leads me invariably to what I’ve been wondering for quite some time now. Past all of the fun, and sometimes serious, competitiveness that is good about our society, there is a side that is less spoken about. The side of ruthlessness. Being “disconnected” from each other has become the norm. It’s looked upon as being “cool” or “acceptable” to be cold and calculating towards those who are either different from ourself, or perceived to be from a lower socioeconomic level then us.

But the only thing that these off-the-wall traits lead me to believe, is that many people in our society are broken and weak beyond human conception of what pain looks, and truly feels, like. There are times that I tried to decipher why people are so incredibly mean; and I’ve come to a very stark conclusion.

Thus, the first conclusion I’ve arrived at; is that the person who is perpetuating deep hatred towards other human beings; is hurt beyond our humanly-known concept of pain. They also feel a lack of control in whatever situation they currently find themselves in. This is a very real problem and issue, due in part to the fact that many people face complex situations where they must choose to either follow their heart; or follow the rules given out to them.

There are times in a person’s life, when even the most difficult of scenarios pushes you between a hard place and a concrete wall.

That’s why I’ve never understood why people, since time immemorial, judge other people for their actions. I’ve come to theorize that anyone who judges someone else’s actions, is not in a position to act themselves.

Given the same opportunity; you and I might very well have gone down the same exact path.

Because the truth of our lives are actually quite simple to understand once you really take the time to sit down and think about why people would do different things in their given situations. We don’t always know what a person is truly going through; all we can do is surmise and “gossip”. But we’ll never truly know; and I believe people would rather not know the many hidden truths hiding in plain sight. It endows into their very soul a sense of deep-rooted fear, a sense of extreme hopelessness that we, the “peons” of the world, are cumulatively powerless and can do nothing to stop those who do hold positions of power.

It’s as though humans have long abandoned living life, and have rather resorted to going through the motions of “reacting” to events outside of their own personal jurisdictions.

We’ve effectively come to a place in life where the mass majority of us can only observe what happens to us; not being allowed to act on any of the injustices we see in the world, without harsh consequences imposed upon us if we were to do so.

In essence, we can do nothing about changing the way things are currently run. But of course, even if we did try and attempt to make any real change, power has a funny way of rearing it’s ugly head. What I’m saying is this: even if we were to replace every single person in power through some kind of transition program; the new people who would eventually transition into their positions; would merely start to change themselves into the very beasts we tried to ward away.

Thus, we’ve come to another contradiction of life. Having power for too long of a time, in any form of it’s manifestations, will only lead to further corruption of that individual’s  body, mind, and soul. Due to the fact that most people aren’t willing to admit that power actually changes the way we as human beings think and process information.

The other type of person who is mean spirited, is on the opposite side of the spectrum. They’re the type of person who is in no position to act.

They are likely the product of overbearing parents or guardians, whether it be a father or mother. You see, like I stated before in my previous posts; life is full of contradictions. It can seem very strange to hear this; but being too “overbearing” on your child can have just as many negative effects as it has positives. Of course, you also don’t want to be so hard on your child that you completely cut all ties with them. But parenting, just like many other things, requires you find some semblance of “normality”. This is starkly different from “balance”.

What I mean by “normality”, is that you need to create your own family environment of what’s acceptable and “normal” for your child to grow up in. It might be difficult at first, because you instinctually want to take care of your child’s ever whim. But by being overbearing, you are guaranteeing you’re child to a life of pain and suffering beyond what humans already endure through. You are, in effect, disabling your child from becoming the adult they need to be as a grown human being in order to survive out there in our still beautiful world. The world they would live is is only shaped by the childhood you give them. Once you understand that your child will always find something to blame you for; you can begin to accept that you are in control of how you parent your child. You have the reign to let them grow, to let them fail while they’re still young and naive. Only then will they begin to understand the importance of “getting back up” after a hard fall.

If you aren’t allowing them to “fail” (or fall, both literally and metaphorically), then your child won’t be ready for the different realities of the world. Without failure, there is no growth.

In truth, we will never fully satisfy every single person’s needs and wants out of a single society. Thus, what we can do in order to strive towards a little bit more of a peaceful existence; is to begin finding people we connect with the most, and sticking with them. That’s our best bet of making our own societies worth living in.

But you see, we come around again to another contradiction of life for a third time in this post. We must realize that leading this kind of life will invariably lead to the concept of “others” to intensify even further. Thus, we will see races divided to levels of existence long forgotten. There’s no humanly way to fully encompass the full scope and depth of injustices we as humans face; but that is what makes the experience of life such a thrill and such a tragedy as well.

If you take anything away from this post, I would want it to be for you to be able to empower yourself by understanding that you still hold some power in your hands. You can still change your fate and future. You just need a fresh start, or a new environment. If you have the means to, I would even say you should try your luck in a different town, city, or even country.

By “freeing yourself”, you begin to give yourself the gift of broader knowledge about your life, about other people’s lives, and about the world in general. There is a deepening sense of grander to life. Once you begin to force your way through all the lies, deception, and crap; it begins to look brighter as you strive to meet new people, connect with others outside of your comfort zone, and understand that not every single person you meet will have genuine intentions to become your ally or friend.

There are so many topics that I can delve deeper into, but for today, I think this is a good place as ever to stop and really reflect upon the differences between our lives. There are always possibilities to have change occur in our daily lives, and the best way to begin, is by taking that leap of faith into the unknown abyss.

Who knows what you’ll discover in your own life story…

Discovering Yourself and Others in Mathematics

Good day everyone, it’s R.S. Noel here with another post. I first want to start this post by thanking all of my new and returning followers, it’s an honor to have such an audience of diverse and intriguing backgrounds. Moreover, I want to also say that I’ve read some of your articles during the small free time that I have, and I’m inspired by the different topics and discussion points each of you has to bring into WordPress’ network.

I want to say one simple truth before I begin: life has many experiences that makes it what it is for human beings. But what I’ll be discussing today is going to be purely from the perspective of “cause and effect” in terms of how it may look algorithmically.

Put simply, if you’ve ever seen the movie (or read the book) of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy”, then you’ll remember that the answer of life is “42”.

Even though the answer “42” may be for comic relief; the whole premise of the joke is that life appears to be “unsolvable”.

Yet in real life, aside from movies, books, and other such forms of entertainment or sources of information; the equations and probabilities conjured up to find the many different answers to life are easily explainable indeed.

When someone does an act of kindness for another human being, there’s a hidden burst of energy that both people feel. It may not be tangible, but the feeling is undeniable in its existence. Just like how we know dark matter exists in the universe, so does the energy we feel inside. Caused by neurons and the dopamine that is released, these good feelings come in the form of “stimulants” to our brains.

So what does any of this have to do with finding yourself and others in mathematics?

Well, once you begin to see the patterns of life, you’ll begin to notice that life exists in two forms for us.

The first pattern, is the pattern of our conceptualized world. This is the part of life that can be predicted quite easily with equations of probabilities. To determine outcomes in this part of life is quite straightforward (for the most part). This is the world in which we see each other everyday and understand how the world operates in terms of work, society, our families, and so forth. This is the logical side of life.

The second pattern, is the unknown pattern. Now this one requires those professionals who truly understand and breathe mathematics in a way that most of us simply will never quite understand. Due to the fact that this side of life, when solved by using complex equations consisting of probabilities more complex than anything we may know it today’s mathematics; usually gives us answers which are not “simple”. It gives us answers that have different variances, answers that will likely have meaning both metaphorically and literally. It’s the side of life that makes for an interesting story or for a worthwhile experience. We can never truly quantify this other side of life. It’s full of variables that we simply cannot even begin to fathom. This is the world in which sometimes the impossible is made possible. This is the side of life we often refer to as the “spiritual” world, or the magical side of life.

So you see, when one begins to see that life is both simple and complex (by no interference of humans as well), one begins to unlock a true sense of deeper knowledge about not only themselves, but those around them as well.

You begin to understand why a person would marry their significant other, you’ll begin to understand why certain wars happen over the course of “x” amount of years. You begin to see why someone who seemingly “has it all”, begins to spiral into a behavior that is “unbecoming” of who we think they are. You start to see both the “good” and “bad” parts of life, giving you a more wholesome picture of what your life has become and where it’s going in terms of natural evolution. That’s why no one hardly ever stays the same, because life has always been about change.

About adapting to change, about embracing the possibilities of changing environments. Nothing ever lasts forever, you must understand how imperative it is for you to grow. For if you stop progressing in life, in your personal life at least, you’ll never be able to uncover the magical side of life. And no, I’m necessarily alluding to your “career”, I’m talking about your own private moments of solitude with your family or yourself in general. Those are the moments that count the most. Of course, work will always be important, or else we would all go crazy with all the free time we would have on our hands. But in fact I’m not talking about such matters. That’s more on the side of common sense.

Once you begin to admit to yourself how imperative it is for you to take a hold of your personal life, you begin to uncover a side of life which is rarely, if ever, talked about.

Knowledge truly is powerful. Once you obtain a small piece of it, it can certainly be either a very helpful, or very dangerous, thing indeed. Tread the path with a steady mind, friend; for this lifetime is full of unforeseen obstacles and unlikely outcomes.

Ancient Mystics & Seers Were Mathematical Statisticians

I believe that Mystics and Seers in the ancient world (and in today’s world as well) must have secretly been Statisticians. They must have used statistics in their daily lives whenever they were helping to “predict” someone’s future. They did this simply by knowing some basic knowledge of who their client was. A really good Mystic or Seer likely knew everyone in the town or city they lived in. That’s probably why they were able to “accurately” (or closely enough) predict what that person’s future was to hold for them. They must have seen the probabilities and likelihood of events that can happen in a human’s life span.

Undoubtedly, the best types of Mystics and Seers are those who have “intuition”. Those types of Mystics and Seers utilize both their instincts and their logic. That is possibly one of the deadliest combinations a person can ever wield.

You see, the best Mystics and Seers imbue both the logical and complex world of statistics with the world of strong intuition and common sense. This is what makes them so coveted and even feared.

When I was younger, I always wondered what the magic was behind “Fortune-Tellers”. I always wondered if there was some kind of trick or hidden secret they knew that I simply would never uncover or understand. But now that I’m older, I’ve come to decipher their secret craft and trade. The answer, however, was definitely not what I thought it would be. But nevertheless, I am convinced that these types of “gifted” people are merely “touched” with the gift to understand and utilize what we call “statistics” in todays modern world.

Think about it in this context:

When Rome was about to “fall” from it’s position of military power over it’s neighboring countries and nations, I’m certain many of those who were skilled at “foresight” knew what was about to happen within a couple of months. They could sense, based off of any information they could gather from the high-class society of Roman society, and also with the general unrest that was growing even from within their boundaries. There are likely many sources of evidence that led to the eventual downfall of Rome as an empire, but likely, this “predestined” fall was undoubtedly already predicted based off the information many Mystics and Seers had gathered over the span of a couple of months.

That’s also probably why many people found Mystics and Seers so mysterious to begin with. They likely were misunderstood in terms of not understanding how they perceived and took-in information. They likely deciphered scenarios unfolding in vastly different ways then a common person could at that time. You see, religion was the ruling authority of the ancient world. Thus, mathematics, science, or anything else that had to deal with the scary “logical” side of reality, was banned from the mainstream of many different societies. It wasn’t always this way, but history has a strange way of falling into historical cycles. Repeating history is inevitable to some degree, but that is simply because we are human and we’ll never truly change who we are.

In summary; Statistics, this single branch of the overall mathematics curriculum, is probably one of the most descriptive and arduous math courses one can take in their lifetime. There’s something in-depth about it; knowing the mere probabilities of an event occurring. It’s so mind-stimulating and intense; it undoubtedly makes me giddy with joy just wondering about all of the possibilities out there in the world.

I would certainly love to find out more about this, but I think for today, that should do it for this post. Some things, perhaps, are better left unspoken.
